The Art Bus

23rd August, 2012

Time Lapse of 'Creative Hands' decorating the Art Bus, which is used for community outreach sessions linking to the arts and music programmes for We Face Forward.

The Art Bus, inspired by the music and contemporary art of West Africa in the We Face Forward exhibition, was created to travel all over Manchester providing free art and music performances and workshops for local communities. From mid May it’s been travelling across the city carrying artists and musicians and has appeared at a huge range of venues in local communities from libraries and café’s to schools. It's been promoting the exhibition and providing exciting music and creative workshop taster sessions which have encouraged members of local communities to visit the exhibition and take part in the events.

An audio record of the Art Bus and its travels

The markers on the Google Map below represent the various communities, libraries and art institutions that the Art Bus visited delivering a programme of art sessions and musical performances from West African artists. Click a placemarker to hear audio recorded in that location.
